Happy 5 Months Baby Bear

Baby Bear is sick for the first time in her 5 month life. I thought we’d be lucky to leap past the first year with no illness. I haven’t been sick in a very long time and nor has Chris. I do believe that we’ve been lucky because we’ve been exposed to so much in the ER at work. Our bodies have built up immunity to a lot of crap. And I was really hoping that would get passed on to baby bear via breast milk.

First night sick was awful. Naomi wouldn’t sleep and cried and her poor itty bitty nose was so stuffed up or runny, and she was coughing from all her nasal drainage. It’s also been sweltering hot this past week. That night we slept on the balcony on our patio furniture covered daybed. She slept a solid 3 hours that night on there. Thankfully, she slept through the night last night. We’ve been using the nose frida on her and hadn’t gotten much out. Luckily, she doesn’t have a fever. Today (day 3 of being sick) she looks to be in better spirits. More playful and napping more. Today is also Ma’s birthday! So we’re over at the Ta’s to celebrate and have dinner with her.

Between 4 and 5 months, baby bear has learned to roll over. She looks like she’ll probably crawl pretty soon. She’s still my happy baby.

Chris has finally had time to just hang out with us. It’s so nice to have him around. Although my clock is around Naomi, and I sleep pretty soon after she does…around 9pm maybe 10 max. I try really hard to stay up with him and watch something on TV, but I end up getting so tired, I’ll fall asleep leaning on him.

We’ve been working on ways to provide shade for us outside on the balcony. We’ve decided that rods and curtains is the way to go. It’s so nice having a husband who is such a handy man. Have I mentioned how awesome my husband is?? He’s so intuitive and constantly thinking of ways to improve things around the house, in his work life, and our lives. His brain never stops creating, thinking, working. He’s so nerdy, he busted out Pythagorean’s theorem when trying to obtain the measurements for our balcony shades. I believed he even used the ancient word hypoteneuse! Who does that??  My wonderfully nerdy husband. 🙂 So cute.

I think Chris secretly wants Naomi to love the water like he does. He wants her to be comfortable in water. So he attempted to sit her in the tub with him to get her acquainted. Baby steps..
